In an ambitious initiative set to redefine the realm of luxury rail travel, Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has entered a strategic collaboration with the renowned Arsenale Group of Italy to unveil the "Dream of the Desert" luxury train by November 2025. This project is a poignant homage to the legendary Orient-Express, embodying its spirit of opulence and comfort, and promising an unparalleled journey through the heart of Saudi Arabia.

Embarking on a Journey of Heritage and Discovery

The "Dream of the Desert" train invites passengers on a world-class exploration of Saudi Arabia's rich cultural tapestry and stunning UNESCO World Heritage sites nestled along its route.

Operating on a 770-mile route, the journey will commence from the capital city of Riyadh, traverse through the captivating city of Hail, Al Qassim, the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Royal Natural Reserve in Al Jouf, and finish in the northern city of Al-Qurayat, near the Jordan border.

This initiative, a part of the broader National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, symbolizes a new era of 'train cruising,' inviting adventurers and luxury seekers alike to discover the heart and soul of Saudi Arabia in unparalleled elegance.

A Revival of Luxury Rail Travel

The Dream of the Desert train is being crafted in Italy, promising an Orient Express-inspired luxury travel experience. With an investment of more than $53 million (SR200 million), the train is designed to redefine luxury travel with an array of exquisite amenities and personalized services.

With 40 opulent cabins accommodating 80 passengers, each guest will enjoy a private retreat adorned with sumptuous furnishings and state-of-the-art amenities.

Passengers can expect to indulge in an exceptional culinary journey, with fine dining options that offer a blend of international and local Saudi cuisines, prepared by world-class chefs. The train will also feature a variety of entertainment options and scenic lounge areas, ensuring that every moment of the journey is filled with enjoyment and relaxation.

Booking Your Trip

The first journey of the Dream of the Desert luxury train is scheduled for November 2025, with the initial guests boarding in the summer of the same year. Those interested in embarking on this one-of-a-kind adventure can book a train cruise for one or two nights.
